HOPE CENTRE UPDATE!
Over the past 2 years, the climate in Haiti has grown progressively more volatile. In July of 2021, the Haitian president was assassinated. There has been a steady rise in tension and gang violence since. Essentially, gangs had begun to take over the country.
This led to a scarcity of food, fuel and freedom. The heat of the violence reached our area in February of this year and as it escalated, we were forced to dissolve our centers down to a bare minimum to protect the lives of our children and staff. Eventually, the citizens began to fight back and were able to push the gangs out. Our community is slowly and carefully beginning to rebuild. We have been able to bring back many of the children whom we had to disperse for their safety. We have also been able to bring in a few new children as well. That being said, we believe Haiti is moving in the right direction.
Help us to regroup and rebuild our centers.
The list of needs is long and essential.
Please, contact us if you have questions or want more details!
